Why convert HEIC?
The practical reason is compatibility. An upload portal may accept JPG and PNG but reject HEIC even though the image itself is valid. Creating a JPG delivery copy can solve that compatibility issue without changing the original photo.
Keep the original HEIC file whenever metadata, original quality or archival history matters. The converted JPG is best treated as a separate output.
Check the converted image
After conversion, inspect orientation, colors, sharpness and file size. Some images contain metadata such as camera information, timestamps or GPS coordinates that can be changed or removed when a new JPG is encoded.
When privacy matters, review the final metadata expectations of the destination. Removing metadata can be useful for sharing, while preserving it may be important for your own records.
Use a local workflow for sensitive photos
The supported My Karya Kit HEIC conversion path runs in the browser rather than requiring the working image to be uploaded to a Karya Kit processing server. Local processing can be useful for private photographs and image-based documents, but normal device and browser security still applies. For a large batch, process a representative sample first and confirm that the output meets the receiving system's format and size requirements.
Recommended workflow

- Choose JPG or PNG as the output format.
- Run the conversion in the browser.
- Review the preview, orientation and output size.
- Download the converted copy and keep the original HEIC file.
